Story-Time Science
By incorporating read-aloud science books into their daily curriculum, educators “can increase science vocabulary, lower the abstract nature of science principles and explanations presented in textbooks, and enrich students’ science experiences,” according to this article by the American Library Association.
The National Science Teachers Association also recommends including science story books in your repertoire, pointing to literature as “an essential partner” in the development of a curriculum that meets the challenges of the Next Generation Science Standards.
